A must for anyone, who wishes to increase the comprehension and retention of their reading and thus ultimately expand their general or specialist knowledge, this compact collection is based on the set of 16 prefixes (groups of letters that are added to the beginning of a word) and 13 roots (the basic parts of words which show their main meaning, to which other parts – prefixes and suffixes - can be added) of the Latin and Greek origin, which in Dr Minninger’s estimation offer the keys to over 14,000 word meanings. Actually, all these prefixes and roots were found in roughly 100,000 words from a large unabridged dictionary.
