|File : Recover|
File : Recover makes it possible to recover from integrity problems in your collection (e.g. as a result of physical damage to the collection files). You can quickly run Recover by choosing Ctrl+F12 or clicking the red-cross icon on the speedbar (top of the main window).
Note that recover is only available in full access mode. To turn full access on choose Tools : Options or press Ctrl+P and select Full access at Data access : Access mode. By default, full access mode is also turned on when you switch to professional level.
Integrity problems in a collection may appear in case of hardware or system software problems. Bad clusters, lost sectors, data corruption, etc. can often be remedied by replacing affected files (e.g. corrupted AVI file, etc.). However, if the problem occurs in SuperMemo index files or files storing optimization data used by repetition spacing algorithm, only File : Recover can remedy the problem.
Important! Never run Recover before making a back-up copy of your collection files (e.g. with File : Semi-Copy)!
Before you begin recovery, choose appropriate recovery options in Recovery Options dialog box.
Recover does not recover from some error types. Here are some errors that are not remedied with Recover:
Note: If you encounter problems that could not be remedied with File : Recover (except for those listed above), please report it to SuperMemoMail (please make a back-up of copy of the damaged collection, e.g. with File : Semi-Copy).
