Help
on the main menu provides the
following options:
- Welcome - ABC - open the welcome
page of SuperMemo help with a 3-minute introduction to SuperMemo
- Guide - open the step-by-step
guide with the most important steps towards mastering SuperMemo (one
month course)
- Contents - open the help's table
of contents
- Troubleshooter - open SuperMemo Troubleshooter
- FAQ - open the page
with the
most frequently asked questions about SuperMemo
- Hints and tips - open the
page with the most useful hints and tips
- Context (F1)
- open the page most relevant to the current context. For example, if you are in
the contents window, pressing F1 will open
the contents window page
- Web
- On-line help - open the help file
directly from the SuperMemo Website. You can use this option if you cannot find
what you are looking for in off-line help and hope that the updated version of
on-line help will be of better assistance
- Search - search the net for articles about a
problem with SuperMemo
- Search Groups - search Google Groups for
messages about SuperMemo
- News - open the news page on the SuperMemo
Website
- FAQ - open the FAQ page on the SuperMemo
Website
- E-mail
- Support - open this
page on the web
- Bug report - send a bug report. When
reporting a bug, remember to
always use this option to ensure your system data and the bug
context are included
- Questionnaire - fill out
your feedback form and send it via e-mail. This way you can bank on better support and
better SuperMemo software in the
future
- Question of the Day -
equivalent of the tip of the day in other programs. In SuperMemo, tips are formulated as
simple questions-and-answers. If you decide to introduce some tips into the learning
process, just click the button Remember in the Question of the
Day dialog box. If you think a tip is not worth knowing, click Delete.
Note that tips in SuperMemo are a mini-metaphor of the SuperMemo paradigm!
- About - dialog box with
the release date of your current SuperMemo. Click Choose picture to
change the picture displayed when SuperMemo starts up. If you downloaded SuperMemo from a franchising website, you will also
find here the address of your local distributor and information about technical support in
your native language; click the underlined reseller's name
You can always use the compiled
contents of SuperMemo Website to use if off-line:
- Go to the help download page
- Download the most up-to-date smhelp.chm file
- Copy this file to the bin subfolder
If the help file smhelp.chm is not present in the bin subfolder, SuperMemo will attempt to open the up-to-date
help material available from the SuperMemo Website. If
the file is present and SuperMemo still attempts to connect, choose Tools : Options : SuperMemo
: Help system : Microsoft Help (CHM) (the default option Optimize
will attempt to connect you to updated help as soon as CHM file becomes outdated)
